A Halloween haunted house tycoon game where you play the little ghost who runs the place. Trick-or-treaters in pumpkin, witch, vampire and mummy costumes walk in through the iron gate, head for a spooky spot in one of the rooms and wait to be frightened. Float up beside them until their scare meter fills, and they jump, scream, drop a pile of candy and run back out of the gate. Every pile you pick up turns into coins. Wait too long and a bored visitor wanders off with nothing. Spend the coins in the Spellbook on a faster float, a stronger scare, a wider scare radius, sweeter candy and a spooky sign that draws more visitors. The manor opens one room at a time: start in the Foyer, then pour coins into the lock pads of the Library, the Kitchen, the Crypt, the Ballroom, the Attic and finally the Graveyard garden, and each new room pays more candy per scare. Hire helper ghosts on the green pad and they glide from room to room scaring visitors for you. Once every room is open, the Next Manor pad moves you to a bigger haunt where candy is worth five times more, and your helpers come along.

How to play

You are the ghost host. Visitors walk in through the gate at the bottom of the hall and wait at a spot in an open room; a candy icon over a visitor means they are ready. Float next to one and stay close: the orange bar over their head fills, and when it is full they scream, drop candy and run away. Several visitors inside your dashed scare circle are scared at the same time. Float over the candy to collect it as coins. The white bar under the orange one is their patience; when it runs out they leave with nothing. Step on the purple SPELLS pad or press the book button to open the Spellbook and buy Float speed, Scare power, Scare radius, Candy value and the Spooky sign, which brings visitors more often. Locked rooms have a lock pad in front of their boarded door; stand on it and your coins pour in until the room opens. Step on the green HIRE pad to hire a helper ghost; you get more helper slots as you open rooms and move to new manors. When all seven rooms are open, the orange NEXT MANOR pad starts a new manor where candy is worth five times more. Your coins, upgrades, helpers, open rooms and manor number are saved in this browser.

Controls

WASD or the arrow keys float the ghost. With a mouse or touch screen, press anywhere and drag in the direction you want to go; the further you drag, the faster you float. Step onto a pad to use it. The book button opens the Spellbook, P pauses and M mutes.

Tips and strategy

  • Buy Scare radius early. Rooms have several scare spots, and a wide circle frightens two or three waiting visitors at once.
  • Scare the visitors whose white patience bar is shortest first, so nobody leaves bored and empty-handed.
  • New rooms pay much more candy per scare than the Foyer, so save up for the next lock pad instead of spreading coins over every upgrade.
  • Hire a helper ghost as soon as a slot opens. Helpers keep scaring in the rooms you are not in, and their candy goes straight into your coins.
  • The Spooky sign brings visitors more often, which matters most once you have more rooms and helpers than visitors to scare.

Boo Manor FAQ

Why did a visitor leave without dropping candy?

Every visitor only waits so long. The thin white bar over their head is their patience, and it flashes red when it is nearly gone. Reach them before it runs out, or hire helper ghosts to cover the rooms you cannot get to.

How do I open the other rooms?

Each locked room has a lock pad in the hall in front of its boarded door. Stand on it and your coins flow in until the price is paid, then the room opens. You can pay a little at a time; the pad remembers what you have put in.

What happens when I move to the next manor?

All rooms except the Foyer lock again and every price grows, but candy is worth five times more. You keep your upgrades and your helper ghosts.

What languages can I play Boo Manor in?

English by default, plus Korean, Spanish, Hindi and Chinese. Pick a language with the buttons on the how-to card or the pause screen; the game remembers your choice in this browser.
