It's Monday, 8:27 a.m., and you're on the platform at Sillim on Seoul's Line 2. Squeeze onto the train before the doors close, then ride a packed car to your office at Yeoksam before nine. Stand too long and your stamina drains, so hover in front of passengers packing their bags to grab a seat the moment they stand. Brace against sudden braking, fight off drowsiness once you sit, say "excuse me" instead of shoving, give up priority seats to seniors, and listen for which side the doors open. Miss your stop and you'll lose precious minutes doubling back. At the end you're graded on arrival time, stamina and manners. Plays in English or Korean, following your browser language.
How to play
Board the train at Sillim before the doors close, then work your way through the crowded car. Standing drains stamina and sitting restores it, but seats only open when someone gets off; passengers packing their bags are about to leave, so wait in front of them. Hold on through starts, stops and the emergency brake, keep yourself awake while seated, and say "excuse me" as you pass people to protect your manners score. When the announcement says Yeoksam, head for the doors on the side it names and step off before they close.
Controls
Arrow keys or WASD to move. Space to sit, stand up, or shake off drowsiness. Hold Shift to grab a handle. E to say "excuse me" and offer your seat. P to pause, M to mute. On touch screens, a virtual joystick moves you and on-screen buttons sit, hold on and say excuse me.
Tips and strategy
- Watch for seated passengers packing their bags: they are about to get off, so standing right in front of them is the surest way to grab the next free seat.
- Hold Shift through starts, stops and the one emergency brake each ride; getting thrown into other riders costs stamina and manners at the same time.
- Say "excuse me" with E before squeezing past people instead of shoving through; your manners score decides whether you end the day as a model commuter or a rush-hour villain.
- A seat restores stamina but makes you drowsy, so stand up before your stop and listen for which side the doors will open at Yeoksam.
- Transfer stations like Sadang, Kyodae and Gangnam bring big waves of people on and off, which is both the best chance for a seat and the hardest crowd to push through.
Rush Hour: Line 2 FAQ
Can I play Rush Hour: Line 2 in Korean?
Yes. The game follows your browser language, so Korean browsers see the original Korean announcements and passenger chatter, and everyone else plays in English.
What happens if I miss my stop?
If you ride past Yeoksam you have to get off at the next station and come back, which adds minutes to your arrival time and can make you late for work.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. On a touch screen a virtual joystick and buttons appear for moving, sitting, holding on and saying excuse me. Turning your phone sideways gives the subway car more room.
